BACKGROUND

  • Board of Directors for prominent Midwest office recruiting first, non-family CEO following death of patriarch

  • Executive Chair of the board is charged with leading search committee of board members

SCOPE

  • Serve as Project Manager for the search with accountability to the Executive Chair

  • Direct all search activities from the launch of the search committee through the successful hiring of the new CEO

  • Act as liaison between Executive Chair and search committee, compensation committee, search firm, and counsel

Deliverables

  • Designed and implemented roadmap to manage search process

  • Designed and directed request for proposal process with selected national and boutique executive search firms

  • Guided search committee on selection of search firm partner

  • Acted as liaison to search firm throughout process

  • Orchestrated information flow on all aspects of search over nine-month long process

  • Prepared Executive Chair for periodic, full-board updates on status of search

  • Oversaw legal counsel in drafting employment terms and final employment agreement

  • Supported Executive Chair in negotiations with finalist and with execution of final documents

  • Provided onboarding recommendations and transitioned responsibility to internal HR team at conclusion of search
